Innings:
Teams play for 9 inings until someone wins the game. If the game is tied after 9 innings then the game goes to extra innings until somebody wins the game. Extra innings are infinite there can be more than 15 sometimes even 20 innings all depends on the game.
Strike Zone:
every hitter has it zone. It also depends on the person calling the strikes and balls(umpires). Most strike zones are from the hitter shoulders all the way to its knees.
Balls and Strikes:
Each player gets 3 strikes and 4 balls. Strike is define as a ball that crosses home plate and the hitter strike zone. If the batter gets to 3 strikes without hiting the ball then the batter is out and its considered a strikeout. If the pitcher throws 4 pitches that dont cross home plate and are not in the strikezone, then its a walk and the batter advances one base. foul balls are when the batter hits the ball but the ball the batter hit doesnt cross into fair territory. Players cannot argue a call strike or a ball with the umpire.
HBP:
This is called Hit by pitch. This is when a batter gets hit with the ball while in the batter box.
Balk:
Balk is when the pitcher makes a false move to homeplate. A pitcher makes a motion towards homeplate but it doesn release the ball. This action is condiered a dead ball or delay of game. the consequences of this movement results in the baserunner advancing a base.
Stolen Base:
Stolen base is when a baserunning advances a base without being thrown out. Baserunning can advance at it own risk of being thrown out. If the baserunner runs and gets to the next base succesfully then its a stolen base.
Single, Double, Triple, Home Run:
A single it is when the batter hits the ball on the ground or air and past the defenders. The ball must touch the ground and get past the defenders if it is hit on the ground. If its hit in the air it must come down and touch the ground without any defenders catching it while its on the air. A double it is identical as the single the only difference its that the batter advances two bases instead of one. Same thing with the triple, with the triple baserunner advances three bases. A home run is when the ball is hit in the air and lands on the stands or past the fence. A home run has to be in fair territory to be considered a home run.
Inside the Park Home Run:
An inside the park is considered when the ball doesnt leave the park or past the fences. The difference between a home run and inside the park home run is that a home run gets past the fence. The inside the park home run doesnt leave the field of play it stays in but the defenders cant get to the ball in time before the baserunner rounds all four bases.
Ground Rule Double:
A ground rule double is when the batter hits the ball on the air and bounces over the fence. The ball is hit on the air and defenders can get to it and it hits the ground and bounces over the outfield wall.
Intentional Walk
Intentional walk is when the pitcher throws four balls on purpose. The batter then gets a walk and advances one base.
Rundown:
This is known as a picke. This is when a baserunner is in the middle of the bases and its in danger of being tagged out. when the runner tries to advance a base and its cutt of by a defender who has the live ball on his hand. defenseman throws the ball past the base runner to the previous base, forcing him to reverse directions again. This is repeated until the runner is put out or reaches a base safely.
Bases:
Baserunners must touch all bases for a run to be counted. If a player rounds all bases but misses a base then team could throw ball to the base that the baserunner missed and the baserunner will be called out.
Equipment:
Each player must wear a helmet when steping into the batter box. Ech player must have a glove when on defense. No susbtance allowed in the glove or bat.
