3 pounds of fresh whole cherries - about 2 quart boxes
frozen cherries can also be used. You will need enough for 4 cups finely chopped cherries
Use 1 box of dry fruit pectin such as Sure-Jell. There is also a low-sugar variety of Sure-Jell. Liquid pectin is also available. Follow the directions on the box or bottle.
If using low-sugar pectin, adjust the amount of sugar to the directed amount. It is important to have the correct amount of sugar or the jam will not set properly.
