My education and goals
I am a 1996 graduate of Cloverleaf High school located in Lodi, Ohio. During my high school years I also attended the Medina County Career Center. At the Career Center I took Truck and Diesel Mechanics. And although it was interesting to learn about automobile's and their inner workings, I knew that this was not going to be my long term career choice. After graduation I had decided to go to work instead of attending college. It's a choice that I wish hadn't made. I floated around to different jobs before I found one that I was good at and enjoyed quite extensively.
In 1997 I began working for a company that sold outdoor furniture, gazebos, and kids play sets. I became the delivery man / installer. I really enjoyed my time there and the company was flourishing. In 2000 the business was sold to an employee because of the previous owner wanting to retire. Sadly after 9/11 the company began a downward spiral. In December of 2008 I was laid off with the understanding I would be called back in the spring. In 2009 the business closed for good and I was left without a job.
From December 2008 until August 2010 I was an unemployed stay at home dad. In August my wife and I decided to try our hand at becoming small business owners. She has always had a love for photography so we started a small studio. Although it sounded like a great idea at the time we were a bit underprepared for all that came with running a business. In April of 2011 we decided to shut the studio down. We had gone into the venture a bit undercapitalized, thus leaving us scrambling in order to cover the overhead. We chalked it up to a learning experience and we actually still do photography, only now it's for fun.
While we were having a go at the studio I had decided it was time to further my education. I have always had a love for computers and I am always coming up with ideas for new software and websites. So I chose to go into Web Programming. My goal is to once again run my own business. This time I would like to be an independent contractor that writes software programs for other small businesses. I would even be open to do some website development. In order to accomplish the goal I must first graduate and get a good job in this field in order to gain the experience I will need to proceed with my dream. Once I have 5 to 8 years of experience maybe then I can begin to accomplish my dreams.
