Prepare the Jars and Rings

Prepare the jars and rings by washing in the dishwasher.
Or you can also wash them in hot soapy water and rinse.
Then sterilize them by boiling the jars for 10 minutes.
Keep the jars hot until ready to use.
This will prevent them from breaking when filled with Hot jam
The recipe makes about 6 cups, so I recommend having 8 jars prepared

Prepare the Lids

Place the lids in a pan of boiling water for a least 5 minutes before putting on the jars
This softens the rubber seal to allow it to seal the jars tightly
A magnetic lid lifter can be used to retrieve the lids from the boiling water
